The Ministry of Education has prepared clarifications for parents regarding age norms within the framework of the 12-year educational system.

Olga Bryzgalova, a specialist at the ministry, emphasized that no drastic changes are expected in the 2026/27 academic year. Children will be enrolled in schools according to their age.

“In the next academic year, children who have reached the age of six will enter the first grade. If parents are considering enrolling a seven-year-old child directly into the second grade, that is not accurate. All children will be entering the first grade of the 12-year system,” she reported.

Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Abakir Mamytov noted that the transition to the new educational model will be smoother and more predictable. Next year, the curriculum for third grades will be updated, and modernization of programs for senior classes is also planned.

“The next academic year will be stable, with an update of the content of the third-grade curriculum. Gradually, we will achieve stabilization in the educational system,” he added.

“Moreover, we face an important task - the implementation of specialized education. The working group is currently working on its concept, and after its refinement, this may raise many questions in schools,” Mamytov noted.

“There is a lot of interesting work ahead,” he concluded.
