Altai State University has announced the release of the first issue of a catalog that highlights monuments from the era of the Great Migration of Peoples in Altai.
According to information from the university, this publication presents archaeological complexes related to one of the most important periods in Eurasian history, when the transition from antiquity to the Middle Ages occurred. During this period, large-scale migrations and military confrontations took place, and powerful empires emerged and disappeared, significantly altering the political and ethnocultural structure of the continent.
Leading expert of the scientific and educational center for Altai Studies and Turkology "Great Altai," Professor Nikolai Seregin, noted that the study of archaeological monuments from this time is one of the fundamental directions in scientific activity. In recent years, scholars have published a number of monographs and scientific articles, as well as implemented several major research projects.
The first issue of the catalog includes data on three necropolises located in the Chemalsky District of the Republic of Altai: Choburak-I, Ust-Biyka-III, and Karban-I. These monuments were studied at various times, and the results obtained have been published in recent years with the participation of the university's archaeologists.
