A draft law on state control in the field of breeding livestock is being discussed in the Jogorku Kenesh in its second reading.

The Jogorku Kenesh is holding the second reading of a draft law aimed at strengthening state control in the field of breeding livestock, including the export of animals.

At the parliamentary meeting, First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Janibek Kerimaliev noted that the top priority is the official registration of Kyrgyz horse breeds, after which the authorities plan to discuss the possibility of banning their export.

Kerimaliev cited examples from other countries: "Turkmenistan does not allow the export of Akhal-Teke horses, and China restricts the export of certain types of tea. We must first register Kyrgyz horses, and only then prohibit their export," he emphasized.

He added that specialists from France recently visited Kyrgyzstan and confirmed that several breeds should be considered Kyrgyz.

The Deputy Minister also pointed out the active interest in Kyrgyz horses from Saudi Arabia, where they are in demand due to their endurance and low feed and water requirements. The authorities see the need to tighten control over exports, including a possible ban on the export of certain types of animals, in order to preserve the breeding stock of the country.
