The key factor remains the insufficient gas pressure and the ongoing modernization work at the station.
Daniyar Amangeldiev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, explained why the CHPP has not yet switched to gas fuel.
He pointed out the existence of different tariffs for citizens and businesses, adding that after the switch to gas, the CHPP will operate under a commercial tariff.
Amangeldiev also emphasized that the modernization of the CHPP is a lengthy process that cannot be accomplished instantly. Currently, work is being done in collaboration with Gazprom on plans to switch the station to gas.
"At the moment, the main problem is the insufficient gas pressure for the CHPP. As soon as this issue is resolved, the switch to gas can be implemented immediately. This is a task for the next one to two years," he noted.
