Evgeny Kochetov, holding the position of Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, announced that the ministry will begin to closely monitor musical works by Kazakhstani performers that address the themes of bride kidnapping and forced marriage. This was reported by Tengrinews.kz.

In Kazakhstan, measures to combat bride kidnapping have intensified; however, songs continue to emerge on the music scene that depict such actions in a romantic light. The Deputy Minister noted that such musical works will be put under scrutiny.

The issue of content that may justify bride kidnapping and forced marriage was raised in the Mazhilis during the discussion of the draft law "On the Prevention of Offenses." Deputy Murat Abenov pointed out that some Kazakhstani series contain phrases that, in his opinion, effectively justify the abduction of girls.

Kanat Iskakov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, stated that amendments will be made to the Code of Administrative Offenses within the framework of this draft law, which will impose responsibility for the dissemination and promotion of offensive content, including profanity. The ministry is also working with experts and public organizations to avoid conflicts between state policy and what is broadcast on screens.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law in July 2025 that introduces penalties for bride kidnapping. Additionally, provisions aimed at combating bride kidnapping and forced marriage have been included in the draft of the new Constitution.
