According to the press service of the city hall, the individual accused of setting his wife on fire is not a current employee of the city administration. The official statement clarifies that he worked at the municipal enterprise "Talas Zhashyl Charba" from July to December 2025, but as of today, his employment relationship with the municipality has ended.
The Talas City Hall expressed its firm condemnation of any manifestations of domestic violence and called on law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident in accordance with the law. They also appealed to the media and the public not to spread false information.
It should be noted that this case has attracted the attention of the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva. The tragedy occurred in the village of Boo-Terek, where a 28-year-old woman sustained burns over 60% of her body. According to the investigation, her husband set her on fire with gasoline during a conflict in front of their children.
The Ombudsman Institute also found that the relatives of the accused attempted to conceal the true circumstances of the incident, portraying it as an accident. The truth only came to light several months later when the victim, continuing to endure violence, told her mother about what had happened.
Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva took responsibility for this case, urging government agencies to take stricter measures in the fight against domestic violence and to impose the harshest punishment on the perpetrator. Currently, the victim and her children are in Bishkek undergoing a difficult rehabilitation process. The investigation is being conducted by the Bakai-Ata District Department of Internal Affairs.
