According to the account of the victim's mother, the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, in the village of Boo-Terek, located in the Bakai-Ata district of the Talas region. The woman, known as M. T. kyzy, got married six years ago and is the mother of two girls.
The victim's mother reported that on that day her son-in-law came home in a state of intoxication, had a quarrel, and beat his wife.
"He threatened my daughter with an axe, then went outside to find it. When he returned with a can of gasoline, he doused her and went to look for matches. At that time, my daughter managed to hide her two frightened children in another room, but she couldn't escape herself. When he lit the match, the fire engulfed her. She ran outside and tried to extinguish the flames using water from the tap. Passersby, hearing her cries for help, took her to the hospital," N. K. recounted.
The mother stated that the husband's relatives tried to mislead the doctors, claiming that the daughter-in-law sustained burns while lighting the stove with gasoline.
Currently, the woman and her children are in Bishkek with her mother. The institute of akiykatchy noted that the victim needs psychological support and further treatment, as she has 60% burns on her body. She has also filed a complaint with the Internal Affairs Department of the Lenin district of Bishkek.
According to the Talas prosecutor's office, the complaint was sent from Bishkek to the Bakai-Ata district police department, and an investigation has already begun.
The ombudsman urges law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation of this incident and hold those responsible accountable.
It is worth noting that on February 5, M. T., born in 1998, approached the Lenin district police department in Bishkek, reporting that on October 15 of last year, her husband D. Zh., born in 1994, beat her without reason and expelled her from their home in the Bakai-Ata district. She also clarified that he doused her with gasoline and then set her on fire.
M. T. admitted that at that moment she did not tell anyone about what happened, despite her serious burns. The police noted that a fire indeed occurred in that house on the specified day.
