From February 12 to 17, the long-awaited premiere of the musical "Suymonkul" will be held on the stage of the Toktogul Satylganov National Philharmonic. This information was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Culture.
This musical is a tribute to the memory of the outstanding actor and artist Suymonkul Chokmorov, and its script was written by playwright Akbar Kubanychbekov.
According to ministry representatives, "Suymonkul" is an important cultural event that celebrates the spiritual values and richness of the Kyrgyz people, as well as their history, through art. Audiences will be able to enjoy live performances, vibrant staging, as well as traditional music and dances.
It is worth noting that Kyrgyz musicals are very popular both at home and abroad. This is confirmed by the success of such works as "Raymaly and Begimai" and "Jamilya".
Suymonkul Chokmorov, born on November 9, 1939, in the village of Chon-Tash, located near Frunze (now Alamudun District), became famous for his roles in films such as "Shot at the Karash Pass," "Jamilya," "Bow to the Fire," "Scarlet Poppies of Issyk-Kul," "The Seventh Bullet," "Fierce," and many others.
Unfortunately, the actor passed away on September 26, 1992, in Frunze.
In 1975, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1981, the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In 2024, Chokmorov was posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Labor."
