According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the author of this musical is Akbar Kubanychbekov.
In an interview with AKIpress, the Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Mirbek Mambetaliev shared that domestic musicals are in high demand, filling auditoriums both in Kyrgyzstan and abroad, referencing successful projects like "Raymaly and Begimai" and "Jamilya".
“We will continue to develop this direction and do not plan to stop at what has been achieved. The Toktogul Satylganov Philharmonic is currently working on the musical 'Suymonkul', which centers around our famous film actor and artist Suymonkul Chokmorov. The ministry has also allocated additional funds for this project,” the minister stated.
Suymonkul Chokmorov, born on November 9, 1939, in the village of Chon-Tash, located near Frunze (now the Alamudun district), left a significant mark on Kyrgyz cinema.
He became known for his roles, including Bakhtygul from "The Shot at the Karash Pass" (1968), Daniyar from "Jamilya" (1968), Utura from "Bow to the Fire" (1971), Karabalty from "The Scarlet Poppies of Issyk-Kul" (1971), Baytemir from "I Am Tian Shan" (1972), Maksumov from "The Seventh Bullet" (1972), Akhangul from "The Fierce" (1973), Temir from "The Red Apple" (1975), and Zhang Bao from "Dersu Uzala" (1975).
Unfortunately, the actor passed away on September 26, 1992, in Frunze.
In 1975, Chokmorov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, and in 1981, he received the title of People's Artist of the USSR. Posthumously, in 2024, he was awarded the title of "Hero of Labor."
