When was the Kyrgyz Philharmonic established?

The Philharmonic was established in October 1936 on the basis of the folk instruments orchestra of the Kyrgyz State Theater.

Founded in 1936 on the basis of the folk instruments orchestra, the Philharmonic did not have its own concert hall for many years. Concerts were held in the halls of "Komvuz," in a music school, in a tiny hall on Dzerzhinsky Boulevard, and in the hall of the Ministry of Agriculture. During the warm season, concerts took place in the Summer Theater of Panfilov Park. The open-air theater, surrounded by greenery, accommodated 800 people. Even those who could not attend the concert could enjoy the music emanating from the theater among the park's alleys. This theater hosted tours by Zara Dolukhanova, Rashid Beybutov, and Muslim Magomaev. The famous tenor Alexandrovich sang here, and the "Beryozka" ensemble danced. The theater building was destroyed during the construction of the "White House."

The first artistic director was V. Fere. Since 1939, it has been named after T. Satylganov. In 1939, the Philharmonic had a folk instruments orchestra, a national choir, a Kyrgyz dance ensemble, a Russian vocal ensemble, a Dungan ensemble, and a brass band.

The establishment of the Philharmonic is associated with the names of performing musicians:

Concerts are held in the halls of the Philharmonic and the V. I. Lenin Sports Palace. In front of the Philharmonic building, there is an architectural and sculptural composition "Manas." The legendary hero Manas, on his magical horse Ak-Kule, fights a dragon. Behind him stand his wife Kanikey and wise advisor Bakai. Nearby are the busts of some manaschi from the 20th century. The picturesque squares and flowerbeds surrounding the national temple of music add additional beauty. Within the walls of the majestic Philharmonic, such gifted folk singers and musicians as S. Kiyizbaeva, Y. Tumanov, A. Tynybekov, Sh. Sherkulov, and many others engaged in creative activities.

The Philharmonic is named after the people's poet and komuz performer Toktogul Satylganov. He began composing songs at the age of 12, was exiled to Siberia for writing satirical works, and escaped from exile in 1910. Toktogul Satylganov lived from 1864 to 1933. He raised a whole generation of professional akyns and created his own school.

This is the largest concert organization in Kyrgyzstan.

The Philharmonic has 10 creative collectives, including the State Big Symphony Orchestra.

The Philharmonic building was constructed in 1980 (architect A. Pechyonkin).

The Kyrgyz National Philharmonic is located on Chuy Avenue in the city of Bishkek. The main street of the capital of Kyrgyzstan is adorned with the white airy building of the national temple of music surrounded by flowerbeds and squares.

Since 1980, the Philharmonic has been in its current building, which has a large hall with 1,108 seats and a small organ hall with 314 seats. Here, concerts of classical, Kyrgyz traditional music, popular works, and various show programs take place.

The snow-white facade of the Philharmonic building faces the architectural-historical complex "Manas," which includes the sculpture of the great singer. A large fountain, numerous squares with picturesque gardens and flowerbeds surround the national temple of music.

Nearby, you can see the government building, the Russia cinema, and many shops and cafes. The main building of the National State University is located not far away. The building of the Philharmonic, whose history began in October 1936, is an impressive architectural structure made of glass and concrete, a decoration of the main square of the city.
