The ethnographic method of teaching and performing that is maximally close to tradition is practiced by Nurlanbek Nyshanov — a multi-instrumentalist and master instrument maker.
N. Nyshanov was born in 1966 in the Jumgal district of the Naryn region. He learned to play folk instruments by ear, from local musicians, and later on his own in Frunze. In the workshop at the Kyrgyz State Philharmonic, he worked on the modernization of wind instruments, constructing the chon choor and modern samples of the chopo choor. Since 1988, he has been an artist of the philharmonic ensemble "Kambarcan." In the 1990s, he created folk ensembles at the Bishkek Municipal Drama Theater and the Kyrgyz National Conservatory. He was the first to introduce the zhyghach ooz komuz into the ensemble.
N. Nyshanov is proficient in many instruments, including the komuz, kyl kyak, temir komuz, zhyghach ooz komuz, sybyzgy, choor, chopo choor, chon choor, and others.
