Salamat Sadakova (born 1956) is one of the contemporary professional folk singers, a People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan (1995), and a talented interpreter of lyrical repertoire.
She was born in the Batken region of the Osh province. In the folk theater of the Kara-Buura district in the Talas region, she played several roles and performed in concerts with lyrical songs. This determined her choice of profession. In 1988, Sadakova was invited to the Kyrgyz State Philharmonic as a soloist of the "Kambar-Kan" ensemble and has since continuously expanded her repertoire — singing folk lyrical songs, "dastans," and songs by folk authors A. Ogonbaev, B. Eginchiev, R. Abdykadyrov, K. Tagaev, as well as songs by composers from Kyrgyzstan.
Salamat Sadakova combines lyrical and dramatic shades in her performing style. Her voice is strong and bright, and her performance includes elements of modern pop style. She taught herself to play the komuz and accompanies herself in some song numbers. Sadakova highly respects the performing art of Rysbai Abdykadyrov, Myskal Omurkanova, and Kanymgul Dosmambetova, but does not imitate them; instead, she selects what resonates with her personally.
