Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev announced that in 2026, the capital will undertake the construction and reconstruction of 119 kilometers of roads and bridges.

Of this total, 19 kilometers will be new roads, while 100 kilometers will be reconstructed. There are also plans to build six new bridges and one road interchange, funded from the local budget.

In addition, the construction of 28 kilometers of sidewalks, as well as 20 underground and three above-ground pedestrian crossings is planned. The possibility of creating multi-level parking lots is being considered.

According to the city hall, in 2025, 92 kilometers of roads were repaired in Bishkek, and in 2024, 62 kilometers. Prior to 2023, the average construction volume was about 17 kilometers per year, indicating a significant increase in road work in recent years.

Aibek Junushaliev emphasized that the approach to road construction in the city has changed: first, the replacement of engineering networks occurs, followed by the construction and major repair of roads.

The final meeting of the Bishkek City Hall board, dedicated to the socio-economic development of the city in 2025 and tasks for 2026, was held under the chairmanship of the head of the cabinet of ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
