A recent video showing employees of the municipal enterprise "Tazalyk" shooting dogs on the streets of Bishkek has caused a wide public outcry on social media.
According to the city hall, the shooting was carried out in accordance with the order of the Lenin District Administration dated February 11.
According to official data, there were more than 30 dogs and 50 cats on private property in the MTU "Novopavlovka," which exceeds the allowable number of pets.
The city hall also clarified that these animals lacked vaccination documents and veterinary passports.
The press service of the city hall reported that during the operation, a woman exhibited aggressive behavior and obstructed the employees' official duties. Moreover, she released the dogs towards the workers, which posed a real threat to their lives and health.
According to the rules, in Bishkek, no more than 2 dogs and 3 cats are allowed to be kept on one property. Representatives of the police, sanitation, and veterinary services have already visited the pet owner more than seven times.
"As a result of the dangerous situation that developed, a forced measure was taken — the shooting of one dog that posed an immediate threat. It should be emphasized that other dogs were not shot," the press service of the city hall added.
