The Central Asian rounds took place in Tashkent
The Law Faculty of the American University of Central Asia (AUC) took first place in the national qualifying round of Central Asia as part of the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. This achievement will allow the team to represent Kyrgyzstan at the international rounds in Washington, D.C., USA!
The competitions in Central Asia were held from February 6 to 8 in Tashkent, where the best teams from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan competed for the right to participate in the world finals.
The AUC team consisted of:
- Akbar Aitemirov (3rd year)
- Sevinch Muminbekova (3rd year)
- Aijazbuche Bekbolotova (2nd year)
- Shirin Shakirova (2nd year)
The team was coached by Begayim Seyitbekova and Bolenat Dutta.
As a result of the competition, the AUC team not only took first place among universities in Kyrgyzstan but was also recognized for the best written memorandum among Kyrgyz universities.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest and most prestigious international competition for law school students. It involves over 700 universities from more than 100 countries, simulating proceedings in the International Court of Justice, including the preparation of written memoranda and oral presentations.
“Participation in such international competitions opens unique opportunities for students to make a name for themselves on the world stage and become part of a global community of young lawyers. We are proud of our AUC team. Their success is the result of hard work, high academic preparation, and teamwork. We are confident that they will represent Kyrgyzstan well in Washington. We wish them confidence and bright victories,” the university noted.
The preparation of the AUC team for the international competition began in September under the guidance of experienced law instructors. During the preparation process, students deepened their knowledge and studied numerous legal sources and academic works, significantly enhancing their professional skills and enabling them to successfully tackle complex legal issues.
It is important to note that AUC has demonstrated outstanding results in the Central Asian rounds of the competition over the past five years, representing Kyrgyzstan on the international stage. This confirms the high level of student preparation and the academic strength of the AUC Law Faculty.
Currently, the team is actively preparing for the international rounds, which will take place in the USA from March 28 to April 4.
Let’s wish them good luck and new professional successes!
