In the sports complex "Alga," a meeting of the Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities under the Bishkek City Hall was held, chaired by Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and the Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Sagynbaev.
According to the press service of the city hall, the event took place in the format of an open discussion and focused on the issues of improving the lives and accessibility of urban infrastructure for people with disabilities.
At the beginning of the meeting, the mayor emphasized the need for a systematic approach to creating equal conditions for all citizens. He highlighted that the city is actively implementing elements of an accessible environment, such as ramps, tactile surfaces, sound traffic lights, designated parking spaces, "smart stops," and adapted routes.
“We strive to create a future where every person feels like a full member of society. Bishkek should become a city where people with disabilities can feel confidence, freedom, and protection,” he added.
Participants were also shown a video demonstrating the current initiatives of the city hall in the areas of education, sports, and urban infrastructure aimed at supporting people with special needs.
Representatives from public organizations and experts participated in the meeting, including the head of the NGO "New Age" Askar Turdugulov, specialist working with hearing-impaired individuals from the NGO "KOS and KOG" Aliya Turdieva, 2025 World Para Armwrestling Champion Toktosun uulu Bekbosun, director of the NGO "Oasis" Meerim Osmonalieva, and others.
The speakers discussed pressing issues, shared their suggestions for improving the urban environment, and developed recommendations for further work.
At the end of the event, an exhibition of creative works by children with disabilities was organized for the participants.
