During the press café "The Rights of Women and Girls with Disabilities to Live Free from Violence: Challenges and Opportunities," dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 16-day campaign against violence, the Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Development, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ainura Orozbaeva, noted that physical limitations should not serve as barriers. "We see many examples where people with disabilities make significant contributions to our society," she stated, calling for the overcoming of stereotypes and prejudices.

Ainura Orozbaeva also spoke about a new law signed by President Sadyr Japarov concerning the rights of persons with disabilities. "This law is very progressive, and in the context of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we have gathered here with media representatives to discuss important topics such as tolerance, inclusivity, and respect for every member of society," she added.

The theme of today's press café focuses on the rights of women and girls with disabilities. This year, for the first time, workshops are being held across the country in collaboration with partners, covering seven regions of Kyrgyzstan. Representatives from various government bodies, including the legal profession and law enforcement agencies, are participating in these events, highlighting their importance.

Ainura Orozbaeva emphasized the unacceptability of violence in society. "We must establish zero tolerance for violence," she stated, reminding about the launch of the global campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence," which will last until December 10. During this period, the country emphasizes its position: "No to violence." This is particularly relevant in light of the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities, when attention is drawn to issues of violence, often hidden, against women and girls with disabilities.

The Deputy Minister stressed that openness and transparency in this area will help society combat negative phenomena and minimize their manifestations. "We must strive for a harmonious and safe society where everyone has the right to a dignified life," she said.

Furthermore, the new law implies the abandonment of the term "persons with limited abilities." "This is not just a change in wording; it is a new approach to perceiving people with disabilities. They are an integral part of our society, possessing all the rights guaranteed by the Constitution," Ainura Orozbaeva added.

According to her, it is unacceptable to limit or discriminate against people with disabilities. "They are citizens just like everyone else, with their own physical characteristics. Inclusivity is in line with the political priorities of our country, as well as the sustainable development goals that Kyrgyzstan is actively implementing," the Deputy Minister concluded.
