"Approximately 1.3 billion people in the world have some form of disability – UN"
According to information provided by the UN, approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide live with some form of disability.
The organization notes that many of these individuals face serious barriers such as stigmatization, discrimination, poverty, and limited opportunities for education and employment, which significantly affects their social integration.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in his message for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed on December 3, emphasized: “When inclusion becomes a reality, it benefits everyone. Together, we can create a more open and sustainable society where everyone can succeed.”
