Musk: 'AI and robotics will make money irrelevant'

At this forum, Musk emphasized that in the future, technology will enable the creation of an economy where traditional financial constraints will be loosened, although some factors, such as the scarcity of energy and resources, will still remain important. He noted that in the context of AI development, money will lose its significance, as machines will be able to produce goods and services without human involvement.

As an example, Musk cited the science fiction cycle "Culture" by Iain Banks, which illustrates a society with an abundance of resources. He believes that these works demonstrate a positive scenario for the development of artificial intelligence in the real world.
According to Musk, work will cease to be a necessity and will become more like a hobby, such as growing vegetables in one's garden. He compared the future attitude towards labor to how many people engage in gardening for pleasure, despite the difficulties.

The entrepreneur also highlighted that AI and robots have the potential to completely eradicate poverty. He reaffirmed his viewpoint at a meeting with investors, stating that the Optimus project is a real way to ensure a high standard of living for everyone.

However, Musk has previously indicated that countries will need to implement not only a universal basic income but also a "universal high income" so that everyone can afford any goods or services. He warned that the path to such a future will be fraught with significant changes and upheavals.
