To receive this amount, Musk must meet certain conditions over the next 10 years. He needs to increase Tesla's market capitalization from the current $1.4 trillion to $8.5 trillion, as well as launch a million autonomous Robotaxi vehicles and the Optimus robot.
“This is not just a new chapter for Tesla; it’s an entire book,” Elon Musk noted during his conversation with shareholders.
The vote on the payment was critically important for the company. Musk had previously hinted at the possibility of stepping down as CEO or spending more time on his other projects if he was not given greater control. Some investors expressed dissatisfaction with this payment; however, Tesla's board of directors emphasized that losing Musk would be extremely undesirable if the agreement was not approved.
