However, Musk will only be able to access this reward if Tesla's market capitalization reaches the mark of 9 trillion dollars, which implies an increase of about 7.5 trillion dollars over the next decade. The payment of the award will occur in stages, depending on the achievement of established targets.
Currently, Tesla's market value is approximately 1.5 trillion dollars.
Previously, as reported by CNBC, Musk stated that he might step down as CEO if shareholders do not approve the proposed compensation terms. The main goal of this agreement is to maintain his focus on the further development of the company.
