
According to Wales, “right now” Musk is unlikely to be capable of creating anything serious. He expressed concerns about large language models that attempt to produce quality content but make numerous mistakes and do not meet the standards required for writing Wikipedia-level articles.
Wales doubts the possibility of creating a reliable source of information using AI and predicts that issues related to misinformation will only worsen. This is because neural networks can be used to create “fake” websites with convincing text.
While it will be difficult to deceive members of the Wikipedia community, who have been fact-checking for many years, misleading other users is quite possible.
Nevertheless, Wales is not completely against the use of AI. He believes it can be applied, for example, to search for sources and additional information that can be added to existing Wikipedia articles.
