At a meeting with residents of the Talgar district, where Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova was present, the first deputy akim of Almaty region, Kanat Esbolatov, delivered a traditional blessing, after which his words sparked a wave of discontent. He stated: “Let’s respect the disabled; God has already punished them enough,” which was perceived as an insult towards people with disabilities, reports Tengrinews.kz.

Following his remarks, active criticism began on social media. Many users expressed outrage at his inappropriate words.
Kanat Esbolatov responded to the criticism on his Instagram, explaining what happened.
He noted that there were many people present at the meeting, and the event lasted four hours. According to him, he made a mistake in his wording when calling for respect for people with disabilities. “There were citizens with disabilities in the hall, and during their speeches, some began to interrupt. I called for following the regulations, but I made an error in my words. I intended to say: ‘God has given a great trial.’ I understand that my words may have hurt the feelings and dignity of many, and for that, I sincerely apologize,” the official wrote.
