Saint Petersburg State University (SPbGU) has published a new dictionary, which has become an important addition in the field of lexicography. This was reported by Meduza.

According to the publication, this dictionary contains 14 roots associated with obscene language, whereas previously there were only four.

“This dictionary allows for a clear determination of which words are considered obscene and how they can be applied in law enforcement practice. The list of obscene words includes four widely known words starting with the letters ‘h’, ‘p’, ‘e’, ‘b’, as well as derivatives of these words and expressions,” the official statement notes.

In total, the dictionary includes definitions for 45,000 words. The compilers specify that “some definitions were coordinated with the legal department of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the preparation of the material was conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice.” According to the authors, the main goal of the dictionary is to strengthen traditional spiritual and moral values in Russia.
