The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan does not specify the reasons why the children were left without parental care. According to the publication, it often concerns labor migrants who have been deported from Russia, are serving sentences, or have passed away. Among those returned are infants left by their mothers in maternity hospitals under difficult life circumstances.
The children were returned from various cities in Russia, such as St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Ufa, Nizhny Novgorod, Khakassia, Moscow region, Makhachkala, and Novosibirsk.
The agency emphasizes that such measures are taken to "protect the interests of minors."
