Vladislav Grib also noted that in most developed countries, education lasts for 12 years, starting at the age of six. He is confident that Russian children do not lag behind their peers from Japan, China, or Europe and are quite ready for such a transition.
In Grib's opinion, Russia already effectively has a 12-year education system, as the last year in kindergartens can be considered a preparatory stage, or "zero grade." He added that children's interest in studying is manifesting earlier and earlier.
In response to the proposal for 12 years of education, the Ministry of Education of Russia stated in mid-October that the current education system is already balanced considering age characteristics and ensures effective assimilation of educational material by students of various ages.
