At a meeting with the Deputy Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Aichurok Nazaralieva, in Moscow, students from Kyrgyzstan reported that the universities they attend did not extend their stay in Russia. As a result, they violated migration requirements and now must either pay a fine or cross the border again. This was reported by the press service of the Ombudsman Institute on October 28.

During her working visit to Moscow, Deputy Ombudsman Aichurok Nazaralieva met with Kyrgyz citizens who study and work in Russia. Representatives of the Human Rights Commissioner in Russia, as well as officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, and representatives from the Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan were present at the event.

Sergey Futo, Deputy Head of the Working Apparatus of the Human Rights Commissioner in Russia, noted that similar problems also affect students from Uzbekistan. He emphasized that students are not necessarily required to leave the country and go through the registration process again. This issue will be monitored by the Human Rights Commissioner in Russia.

“Educational institutions are responsible for extending students' stay for the entire duration of their studies; however, they have shifted this responsibility onto you,” he added.

Additionally, important issues for migrants were discussed at the meeting, concerning difficulties in enrolling children in schools and kindergartens.
