The editorial team of Kaktus.media decided to check the situation on-site. The trip to the Alameddin market stop took about 45 minutes, but the bus never arrived. As a result, we had to take a taxi, which cost 394 soms, and the car shook on some sections of the road.
Current conditions at route 71 stop
Upon arrival, we found that the terminal stop was a complete mess of mud, and any vehicle could get stuck here. We did not see any signs indicating the stop, and there wasn't even a canopy. The roads in this area are in terrible condition not only at the terminal but also along the entire route that passes through the former Sadovoe. Only in the last one and a half kilometers did the situation improve. When the bus finally arrived, we spoke with the driver. He reported that only four buses are operating on the line, and on weekends they do not run at all due to low passenger traffic—there are no schoolchildren during this time, and fuel costs do not justify their operation.
Road problems: drivers' suffering
The driver spoke about the catastrophic state of the streets he is forced to drive on. Some sections of the route resemble "shingles"—the road is riddled with potholes and bumps. Even where repair work is being carried out, it is done sporadically. In trying to avoid one pothole, the driver inevitably ends up in another, causing the entire bus to shake. "The shaking creates the impression that the windows might break, and the bus's suspension suffers. It would be great if the roads were repaired," he said, adding that in case of a breakdown, he would have to cover the costs himself. For example, replacing a window can cost around 25,000 soms, and under such conditions, the equipment often breaks down.
