From April 6 to 12, 2026, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, will host the Asian Championship in wrestling, featuring the strongest wrestlers in Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling categories. Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, held an urgent meeting with representatives of the wrestling federation to discuss the country's readiness for this important event.
The discussion covered not only sports aspects but also all related logistical issues: from preparing sports venues to ensuring accommodation for delegations, as well as the complex accreditation processes for journalists and medical support. Moldazhiyev emphasized the need for strict adherence to international safety standards, highlighting that hosting the tournament is an important indicator of national prestige for Kyrgyzstan.
After the meeting, clear instructions were issued to the relevant ministries and the organizing committee with established deadlines for task completion. The head of the state agency noted that there is no time left for preparation, and coordination between government structures and the wrestling federation must be flawless. Bishkek must demonstrate a high level of organization for the championship, which will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's status as one of the leading countries in wrestling on the continent.
