This year, the country plans to install 390 thousand new devices
An initiative to install 'smart' meters has begun in Bishkek, which is part of the digitalization program for the electricity supply system implemented by the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan. This reform is being carried out with the support of the Ministry of Energy.
The project received financial assistance from the World Bank.
It is planned that by 2026, 390 thousand meters will be installed across the country, including:
- 91 thousand 210 in Bishkek;
- 89 thousand 129 in the Chui region;
- 68 thousand 242 in the Osh region;
- 54 thousand 997 in the Batken region;
- 71 thousand 546 in the Jalal-Abad region.
The main goal of this project is to increase the transparency of electricity accounting, reduce technical and commercial losses, as well as improve the quality of electricity supply and develop digital infrastructure in the sector.
'Smart' meters provide the ability to accurately account for electricity consumption in real-time, quickly identify technical malfunctions, prevent unauthorized connections, and generate reliable data for calculations.
This system also contributes to effective energy consumption management, allowing users to utilize their resources more rationally.
