The Bishkek electric network enterprise, a subsidiary of JSC "NESC", is actively working on the implementation of an automated commercial electricity accounting system (ACES). It is reported that the main task of this system is to optimize the distribution of electricity, improve control, and ensure accurate, transparent consumption accounting.
Since the beginning of 2025, 28,000 smart meters have already been installed in the capital, distributed across the districts as follows:
- Lenin District — 9,140 units
- Sverdlov District — 4,659 units
- First of May District — 11,742 units
- October District — 2,374 units
In 2026, the installation of an additional 42,000 next-generation smart meters is planned. According to representatives of the electric network enterprise, these devices have numerous advantages: they automatically transmit data to the server in real-time, disconnect the power supply when the power limits are exceeded, and also in cases of outstanding debts, with subsequent restoration after the debt is paid off. Smart meters also inform about attempts of unauthorized access, improve the quality of supplied electricity, reduce the risks of theft, and minimize the human factor by decreasing interaction between controllers and consumers, as well as protecting electrical equipment from overloads.
