The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan has announced the installation of 500,000 "smart" meters across the country.
According to the agency's data, the distribution of meters by region is as follows:
- 28,605 units in Bishkek;
- 114,884 units in Chui region;
- 36,900 units in Talas region;
- 108,907 units in Osh region;
- 45,912 units in Batken region;
- 82,903 units in Jalal-Abad region;
- 47,929 units in Issyk-Kul region;
- 33,960 units in Naryn region.
Additionally, "smart" meters have the following features:
- they provide real-time readings to the server;
- protect equipment from overloads;
- notify about attempts of unauthorized access;
- automatically disconnect power supply in case of debt and reconnect it after the debt is settled.
