In Bishkek, the branch of OJSC "NESC" — the enterprise of electrical networks (PES) — has begun implementing an automated system for commercial accounting of electric energy (ASKUE).
According to representatives of PES, the main goal of implementing ASKUE is to improve the management of electricity distribution, as well as to ensure accurate and transparent accounting of consumption.
Since the beginning of 2025, 28,000 smart meters have been installed in various districts of the capital, distributed as follows:
• 9,140 in the Lenin District;
• 4,659 in the Sverdlov District;
• 11,742 in the Pervomaisky District;
• 2,374 in the Oktyabrsky District.
Additionally, in 2026, the installation of 42,000 new next-generation smart meters is planned.
The advantages of smart meters include:
• real-time transmission of readings to the server;
• automatic disconnection of power supply in case of exceeding permissible capacity;
• disconnection of electricity in case of debt with subsequent restoration after payment;
• notifications of unauthorized access attempts;
• improvement of the quality of supplied electricity;
• reduction of risks of electricity theft and decreased interaction between the controller and the consumer;
• protection of electrical equipment from overloads.
