As reported on February 24, spring break starts on March 2. Teachers are concerned about how grades can be assigned and the quarter's results summarized in just three days.
The ministry emphasized that calendar-thematic planning always includes reserve hours and time for current and final assessments during the academic quarter.
“Assessment should be evenly distributed over time, rather than concentrated in the last days,” the agency stated. The ministry acknowledges teachers' concerns regarding the high workload at the end of the reporting period and recommends that schools:
- optimally distribute assessments and tests;
- use reserve hours if necessary;
- ensure timely entry of grades without overloading teachers,” the ministry reports.
“When creating the academic schedule, not only the even distribution of workload between quarters is taken into account, but also the presence of official holidays and weekends. In the IV quarter, additional days off usually arise due to the Orozoi Ait holiday (the date is determined annually), as well as the May holidays. This reduces the actual number of school days in the IV quarter,” the statement notes.
If the spring break were postponed to a later date (for example, after March 9 or after Nowruz), then the III quarter would significantly increase, shortening the IV quarter, which already contains holidays.
