Residents will have secondary streets left
The Bishkek city administration plans to partially reduce the bus routes that pass through the central streets of the city. This measure, scheduled for the summer period, aims to optimize public transport operations and reduce traffic congestion.
According to the municipality, there are currently more than 14 routes operating on Baytik Baatyra Street, while the optimal number is no more than 10. This creates additional traffic jams.
Instead, the authorities intend to redirect buses to less congested secondary streets.
Additionally, it is planned to shorten the routes. This means that passengers will not be able to reach the car market by bus from remote neighborhoods.
As explained by the city administration, these changes are aimed at improving convenience for users. Long routes led to buses making only 3-4 trips a day.
Currently, a decision on increasing fare rates has not yet been made, and the concept of hourly payment is still under development.
