Local residents learned that the use of VPNs is no longer required
As of the evening of February 26, the majority of TikTok users in Kyrgyzstan were able to access the platform without the need for a VPN. This is reported by the residents themselves on social media.
Access to the service was granted to both residents of Bishkek and users from other regions of the country.
Although there have been no official statements regarding the lifting of the ban, proposals for the possibility of canceling restrictions have already been put forward in the Jogorku Kenesh and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy.
For reference, TikTok was blocked in the spring of 2024 at the direction of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), due to content that could pose a danger to children, as well as the need to strengthen content control.
