According to information from the Bishkek City Hall, residents are required to purchase the components for the installation of new elevators at their own expense. This provision is based on the Housing Code.
Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev published a response from Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev.
"The power cable that provides electricity supply to the elevator equipment from the input distribution device to the elevator machine room is considered part of the intra-building electrical supply system and belongs to the common property of the apartment owners. The municipal enterprise 'Bishkekgorlift' is responsible for the maintenance and operation of elevators within the framework of the concluded agreements. However, intra-building electrical networks do not fall under the enterprise's maintenance scope unless otherwise specified in the contract," the response stated.
The city hall noted that replacing the cable, if it does not meet the requirements for power and load, is an important condition for ensuring the safe and stable operation of elevators.
Recall that in 2026, 'Bishkekgorlift' plans to replace 100 elevators.
