Deputy Gula Kozhokulova called the shooting of stray animals a barbaric method
At a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gula Kozhokulova raised the issue of the shooting of stray dogs in Bishkek.
She noted that many residents of the capital are concerned about the legality of these actions.
"Many citizens are very sensitive to animal issues. This raises many questions. How legal are the actions of 'Tazalyk' regarding the shooting of stray dogs? Why are huge sums — from 4 to 7 million soms annually — allocated from the city budget for these purposes? Why is this money not used for sterilization, capturing animals, or creating shelters?" — the deputy asked.
In addition, Gula Kozhokulova appealed to her colleagues in the city council, who are responsible for reviewing and approving budget expenditures, calling such actions "barbaric."
She also urged the city prosecutor's office to check the legality of the work of the services involved in the shooting of stray animals.
