Kyrgyz citizens who relocated from Tajik Murghab have submitted a draft notice to the army
During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Tabyldy Muratbekov reported that he was approached by ethnic Kyrgyz who moved from Murghab to Kyrgyzstan and received citizenship of the republic.
According to the applicants, despite their new citizenship, the authorities of Tajikistan continue to draft them into military service, putting pressure on their relatives who remain in Tajikistan.
There are also reports that Tajik authorities are confiscating Kyrgyz passports from citizens traveling to the Murghab district.
In response to these circumstances, the deputy sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asking them to take measures to protect the rights of ethnic Kyrgyz who have obtained Kyrgyz citizenship and to address this issue with the Tajik side.
Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziev confirmed that this issue will be taken into account, and they will instruct the Kyrgyz ambassador in Tajikistan to take the necessary measures.
