"May the kalpak always be on our heads," expressed the wish of the Speaker
Today, Kyrgyzstan celebrates the Day of the Ak Kalpak — a headwear that has become a symbol of the transmission and preservation of the cultural and spiritual traditions of the people.
This year, the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh also did not remain indifferent and came to the session wearing national kalpaks.
Speaker Marlen Mamataliyev, addressing his colleagues, said: "May the kalpak always be on our heads, and may our traditions be passed down from generation to generation."
The Day of the Ak Kalpak was officially established in 2016 by the decision of the Jogorku Kenesh to emphasize the importance of this national attribute.
The celebration also took place in correctional institutions, where various cultural and sports events were organized, including table tennis tournaments, tug-of-war, as well as chess and toguz korgool.
