In connection with the 36th anniversary of the signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, a special event was held at the Resource Center "Ene Üyü" (Mother's House) dedicated to the theme: "A child's happiness is in a mother's love and family care." The center's director, Nazgul Turdubekova, emphasized that the "Mother's House" model has been recognized by the UN as a best practice. She noted that this approach has proven effective in preventing the separation of mothers from their children and reducing the number of cases where infants end up in orphanages.
The Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Jamila Dzhamanbaeva, highlighted that the child's right to life and upbringing in a family is fundamental. "Our task is to ensure that no child in Kyrgyzstan is left without parents unless absolutely necessary," she stated.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grave, emphasized the importance of the center's work. According to her, "Ene Üyü" implements one of the key principles of the Convention — comprehensive support for mothers and children in difficult situations to ensure the preservation of the child within the family.
The event was attended by representatives from various government agencies, social services, international organizations, NGOs, and the media. Guests familiarized themselves with the center's work and discussed the child's right to a family, the traditions of the Kyrgyz people in supporting motherhood and childhood, as well as the importance of inter-agency cooperation to preserve families.
All participants unanimously noted that the family environment and parental love are the foundation of a child's well-being, and the state, together with society, must strengthen support for families in crisis situations by expanding social services and enhancing parents' capabilities.
