The restrictions affect strategically important routes leading to customs posts at the border with China and Kyrgyzstan.
In particular, in the Almaty and Zhambyl regions, restrictions have been imposed on freight and public transport on the highway that runs from the border with the Russian Federation through Martuk, Aktobe, Karabutak, Kyzylorda, Shymkent, Taraz, Korday, and Almaty to the border with China in Khorgos.
The traffic ban is in effect on sections from the village of Zhanakurylis to the border of the Zhambyl region, as well as from the border of the Almaty region to the village of Korday, where the border crossing point with Kyrgyzstan is located, and on the section from the village of Kenen to the village of Kainar.
Traffic is expected to be restored on the morning of March 11.
