In Kazakhstan, the National Security Committee has initiated a large-scale investigation related to the forgery of temporary residence permits (TRP), as reported by the publication Meduza.

This criminal case could lead to the deportation of a significant number of Russians who arrived in the country seeking refuge from the war. This information came from human rights defenders of the "Word of Protection" project, which assists migrants from Russia.

According to their information, "dozens of men of conscription age" are becoming witnesses in this case. The investigation started at the end of February 2026, and investigators are "simultaneously questioning three to four people."

Human rights defenders strongly urge anyone involved in the case of fake TRPs to leave Kazakhstan as soon as possible to avoid potential deportation to Russia, notes the "Word of Protection" project.
