At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 11, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva shared her impressions of the event that took place on March 8 in the M. Gorky Park.

She noted that the event was peaceful and under the control of law enforcement agencies, without slogans that could provoke disagreements.

“Citizens have the right to express their dissatisfaction regarding issues of domestic violence and rights violations. We must not ignore this,” emphasized Surabaldiyeva.

The President responded that the authorities do not oppose protests and rallies; however, the ban only applies to events in squares and near the buildings of courts and prosecutors' offices.

“Events can be held in Gorky Park without the need for a permit. We only ask that our traditions and mentality are not violated. Their numbers are actually small, less than 1% of the population. But why provoke the remaining 7.5 million? People walk with placards and voice various calls, but if there were more than half, we would prefer to remain silent. We must warn about such situations, as they do not correspond to our customs,” added Japarov.
