From March 10 to 12, 2026, an international expert visit from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is taking place in Bishkek. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

According to the agency, this mission aims to assist in the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. It is being carried out as part of the UNIDO Country Partnership Program for Kyrgyzstan for 2025–2029, where the pharmaceutical industry has been identified as a priority area for strategic cooperation with the government of the country.

On the first day of the visit, experts held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Ministry of Health, as well as key players in the domestic pharmaceutical market. The main topics of discussion included industry development, the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union for GMP standards, and mechanisms to support the modernization of pharmaceutical production.

The visit also includes technical excursions to pharmaceutical enterprises to assess the current state of GMP standards implementation and identify needs for technical and expert support.

The concluding meeting of the mission is scheduled for March 12, where the results will be discussed and further steps for cooperation will be outlined, including the preparation of a technical support initiative aimed at strengthening the production capacity of Kyrgyzstan's pharmaceutical industry.
