Land may be confiscated in case of intentional deterioration of its condition
In Kyrgyzstan, a new package of amendments to the Civil and Land Codes, as well as the Code of Administrative Offenses, has been developed with the aim of protecting the country's land fund. The government aims to strengthen the protection of agricultural lands and prevent their unauthorized development through these changes.
According to the proposed document, agricultural lands will be recognized as areas of exceptional value and the foundation for ensuring national security.
One of the main innovations will be the doubling of compensation for the conversion of particularly valuable lands to commercial development status. The bill also proposes the introduction of a mechanism for the confiscation of land plots from owners in case of intentional deterioration of soil condition, which may lead to a change in land category.
In case of violation of land use rules, fines will be imposed: 3,000 soms for individuals and 13,000 soms for legal entities.
This initiative is aimed at preventing the degradation of arable land and ensuring food security in the republic.
