Kenesh Jusupov, an outstanding writer and public figure of Kyrgyzstan, passed away on March 13. This was reported on Facebook by the chairman of the Writers' Union of the country, Kanybek Imanaliev.

He was born in 1937 in the village of Echkibashy, located in the Naryn region.

After failing to enroll in the law faculty of the Kyrgyz National University in Bishkek in 1954, he spent two years working at the collective farm "Communism" in various positions, including librarian and secretary of the Komsomol organization.

In 1956, he enrolled in the faculty of Kyrgyz language and literature at the Kyrgyz State University thanks to his success in writing dictation.

Since 1958, after the publication of his first short story in the newspaper "Leninchil Zhas," his works began to appear regularly in print.

Kenesh Jusupov worked at the Tien Shan regional newspaper in Naryn, as well as at the publishing house "Kyrgyzstan," in the script department of the film studio "Kyrgyzfilm," and was the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Ala-Too."

Together with Ashym Jakypbekov, he adapted the epic "Manas" into prose form.

Additionally, he created a prose version of this epic for children.

From 1991 to 2012, he worked on the creation of a five-volume edition "Kyrgyzdar," which was later expanded to 40 volumes in collaboration with Kanybek Imanaliev.

Kenesh Jusupov left his mark in literature with works such as "Zhasoo Kumary," "Yry Sabyndagy Ömür," and "Karagaychylard."

He was awarded the Order of "Manas" II degree in 2016 and received the title of "Hero of Labor" in 2024.
