The Jogorku Kenesh is considering a law on the inheritance of electronic money

The new bill will simplify the transfer of funds from electronic wallets to heirs.

In its first reading, a bill was approved that will allow the inheritance of funds held in mobile and internet wallets. The Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development positively assessed this initiative.

Currently, there are no clear guidelines on how to handle money if the owner of an electronic wallet has passed away. The adoption of this law will make electronic money a form of property, allowing it to be inherited similarly to regular bank accounts.

Deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed the opinion that amending the Civil Code is unnecessary, as current legislation already includes money, regardless of its form, as part of the inherited property.
