A meeting took place between the Minister of Health, Damir Osmonov, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Korea to Kyrgyzstan, Kim Kwang-jae. The press service of the Ministry of Health reported on this event.
During the discussion, the parties reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare.
The preparation for the 'Central Asia - Republic of Korea' summit, which will take place in 2026, was also addressed.
This summit is seen as a significant platform for strengthening strategic dialogue and expanding practical interaction.
The negotiations focused on infrastructure projects in healthcare that are being implemented with the support of the Economic Development Fund. In particular, the construction of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital is currently underway, as well as the preparation of a project for the modernization and construction of a new building for the National Hospital as part of the 'Medical Town' initiative.
Minister Osmonov emphasized the importance of cooperation in the training of medical personnel. Kyrgyz specialists are receiving training through programs supported by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, including the international Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program.
In addition, the Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for the regular medical missions and humanitarian aid sent to Kyrgyzstan to support the local population and develop the healthcare system.
