Kyrgyzstan and South Korea discussed cooperation in the field of medicine
Damir Osmonov, the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, met with Kim Kwan-jae, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future cooperation in the field of healthcare.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the main focus was on the implementation of a number of infrastructure projects in the medical sector. In particular, the construction of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital continues with the support of the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund, and preparations are underway for the project to modernize and build a new wing of the National Hospital as part of the creation of a Medical City.

Additionally, issues related to the training of medical specialists were discussed. Kyrgyz doctors are undergoing training through programs supported by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, including the international Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program.

The Minister emphasized the importance of friendly relations with the Republic of Korea and noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. He reminded that the establishment of comprehensive partnership between the countries in December 2024 opened new prospects for expanding interaction, including in the field of medicine.

The parties also discussed the upcoming "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" summit, scheduled for 2026, which will serve as an important platform for strengthening strategic dialogue.

The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for the regular medical missions and humanitarian assistance from the Republic of Korea aimed at supporting the population and developing the healthcare system.

As a result of the meeting, both sides confirmed their interest in further expanding cooperation, including the development of medical infrastructure, training personnel, and exchanging experiences.
